Do We Need A Dedicated Website For Blogging?

About Blogging

Google definition of Blog – A blog (a truncation of “weblog”) is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries (posts).

My definition – It is a piece of content that you write on based on your interest/ expertise/ area of your strength.

The beauty about blogging is that along with writing you can monetise blogging content if you fulfil the parameters needed to do so. Lets read more about how to Blog.

Do we need to strategise while writing our Blog.

It’s not a MUST but GOOD to do so! Check these questions below:

  1. What is the platform you are choosing? Eg: Wix, WordPress etc.
  2. Why are you writing this blog? Is it because you love writing or you have a specific purpose for writing this content?
  3. Who are you writing it for? General or for a selected category.
  4. What is the output or results you are looking at with this blog?
  5. Do you want your blog to be monetised or Working towards monetising?
  6. What kind of SEO would help etc….

All the above indicates that we need to strategise before we build our content.

Blog – Content, what to write on?

This is the most important question! While writing a blog, stick to your area of interest or your niche. Going with your niche for your blog is the best way to start. For example, are you going to blog about food, art, fitness, yoga, or parenting? This ensures you are targeting a specific segment of the market and a since you are contributing to a specific group with specially curated content, there are more chances of them coming back to read your content everytime you post.

On the contrary, having a broad category might confuse your readers it would be a scattered info knowledge sharing and your readers or followers may not know how exactly to connect to you.

Why should you have a dedicated space for your posts?

Website

It is ideal to have a dedicated place or a platform where you can post your blogs. Having your own website is like a dedicated space for your blogs. Website is like your own space your own property your own land where you can put anything or you can post anything as you like for example if you have noticed. This challenge is answered by having a website because a website is your own space where you can post any content that you want you like.

Other sites (let’s explore Facebook here)

At times Facebook stops us from posting our content. Their reasons are that it might be harmful to a certain group of people or it might not be appropriate content in some way. Facebook has its own share of rules and regulations that sometimes doesn’t let us share our videos or images etc. Also in Facebook, the content gets lost as soon as new content comes in. Facebook does allow you to post your content but can block it as well.

Monetise Blogs?

It is possible to monetize your blog posts! You have to be regular while posting blogs initially to build traction. When people visit your website regularly means that there is traffic that is coming into your website. Interested advertisers look for websites with more traffic to post their ads. When readers click on these links, advertisers pay as per the clicks. So when you allow advertisers to advertise their links you can earn money in return from them.
