In pranayama you don’t worry about taking breaths, you focus on exhalation. If you exhale properly, you will inhale. The more deeply you exhale the more deeply you will inhale!

Pranic Breathing

There are different types of yogic breathing practices for different purposes. This breathing was practiced in ancient times by our Yogis.

Pranic Breathing is

– a type of Yogic* Breathing

– that enables the practitioner

– to draw in lot of Prana in the body (from the surroundings)

– the practitioner can also project/ give Prana (if required).

About Prana

Prana is a Sanskrit word, pra meaning “forth,” an, meaning “movement”/ “to breathe,” prana closely means “breathing forth”.

Other closest interpretations are “Life Force,” “Life Energy”, “Energy” and “vital principle.”

It is Universal and hence known by different names in different traditions, refer picture.

Prana as universal energy exists not only within our subtle (energy) body channels but all around.

In our energy body, prana flows through energy channels/ meridians and Chakras.

Prana is taken in when we inhale majorly and also by some Chakras (this part is for the Energy Practitioners to know and understand).

How To Correctly Practice Pranic Breathing

Why is this breathing Powerful?

It is said that a tremendous amount of Prana rushes into all parts of the body when inhalation is done after an empty retention.

Critical here is Rhythm and Empty Retention. This doesn’t take place if inhalation is not preceded by Empty Retention.

Lets try 6-3-6-3

1. INHALE

Inhale for 6 counts

2.HOLD

Hold for 3 Counts. Holding breath after inhalation is called Full Retention

3. EXHALE

Exhale for 6 counts

4. HOLD

Hold for 3 counts. Holding breath after exhalation is called Empty Retention.
