What Does Meditation Mean?
Just like physical exercises are a medicine for our physical body, likewise meditation is a must for our mental health and wellbeing.

Guide to get you going in Meditation.
1. Dedicate a quiet place for meditation. Maybe one corner of your study/office room where no one would disturb you for a fixed time everyday. Remember, a good meditation can be experienced just anywhere.
2. Light an incense stick or an air purifier. Play a soothing music to get you calm and peaceful.
3. Meditation basics — eyes closed, spine straight (not rigid), slightly raise your head.
4. Meditation should be done preferably in a sitting position. unless some techniques ask to lie down or some physical challenges call for lying down.
5. Face the east direction preferably.
6. Start with a shorter duration of 15 mins. As and when you make good progress, move to 30 mins and then 45 mins etc. I have read about saints who have meditated continuously for 50 years or so. (Source : Autobiography of a Yogi)
7. If you do not know how to go about in a meditation, start with a guided meditation. Great if you have a Guru/ Master to follow else choose one from Youtube. (incase you want some pointers/ help, write to me ).
8. Invoke to your GOD/ Guru before the meditation. Also always say a “thank you” after the meditation. It is not a must but a great practice.
9. Once you progress and you are a regular in meditation try experimenting its power with small stuffs. Example: Setting an intention before starting the meditation. Example : Today i want a clarity on “xyz project which has been on my mind for days”. You may not get the answer in the form of a spark immediately or it may take some hours/ days depending on your practice..but yeah, you will get it :).
10. Meditation in a group is powerful, minimum of 7 people. If physically meeting is not possible, you can form a group in whatsapp/ Zoom etc and set a time and meditate.
11. Meditation if preceded by a breathing excercise, can do wonders as this will reduce our thoughts and give more results. Can try this as a tool for point #9 (above). example — Pranayama or any other breathing excercises.
12. Preferably do the meditation in the morning, as it generates good energy and keep you in a good state throughout the day. This will also help you in the following ways:

13. Mantra Chanting is a good add on too, it not a must though. Simplest and potent mantra — AUM.

14. Meditating at the same place everyday is said to have benefits . The energy is said to be concentrated in that area if you do it at the same place, same time and everyday.

16. Initaially you will be flooded with thouhts while you start to meditate. Thats pretty normal, with practice they will reduce. And when they come, just acknowledge and let them go.

17. Keep a notebook and pen, incase you have some experience you dont understand now..keep noting them down. One day it will make sense :).
18. Post the mediation it is good to do a small set of stretches/ bending exercises. This will relieve any stuck energy.
19. Last but not the least, meditation is a channel to Self/ God realisation. Keep inching towards the Goal.
20. Mudras can be used for getting into a specific meditation with a cause.
